- Be employed by an eligible host organisation in NSW for the grant's duration. Eligible organisations include:

- Not-for-profit organisations
- Local health districts
- Other public health organisations
- Clinicians (medical, nursing, and allied health professionals) may apply. Clinicians can use up to 50% of the grant to backfill their clinical role with proper justification.
- Be senior researchers who meet one of the following criteria:
- 15 years or more postdoctoral experience.
- Less than 15 years postdoctoral experience but have reached full professor level.
- Associate Professors may apply as early-mid career researchers if they are less than 15 years postdoctoral.
