The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career researchers in immunology and cancer immunology. It provides:

Note: Deductions for administrative overhead are not allowed from either the stipend or the institutional allowance.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Doctoral Degree: Must have a doctoral degree by the date of award activation.
  2. Research Sponsor: Proposed research must be conducted under a sponsor holding a formal appointment as an assistant professor or higher rank at the host institution.
  3. Research Focus: Must work in areas directly related to immunology or cancer immunology. Projects must fall into the broad field of immunology with relevance to solving the cancer problem.
  4. Mentored Research Experience: Applicants with 5 or more years of mentored research experience at the time of award activation are not eligible (except M.D. applicants, who should exclude residency years in this calculation).
  5. Sponsor's Laboratory: Applicants who have already spent 3 or more years in a sponsor’s laboratory by the fellowship start date will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.
  6. Institution Type: Fellowship can be performed in the United States or abroad but must take place at a non-profit institution.
  7. Citizenship: There are no citizenship restrictions.
  8. Sponsor Limitations:
    • Only 1 fellow per sponsor may apply per application round.
    • Faculty sponsors may not have more than 3 CRI-supported fellows at any time.
  9. Resubmissions: Applicants may resubmit their fellowship application at a subsequent deadline, provided the new application reflects progress. Changes should be addressed in the subsequent application.
